I haven’t been able to get it out of my head for days. 

a beautifully melancholic film that is flooded with metaphors that leads you to wonder and think about your life. I simply HAVE to go back and watch it again.

ants, crossing the road…the way a leaf casts a shadow on a tree trunk…
Little things.

I think it’s the same with people.
I see in them little details, so specific to each other, 
that move me, and that I miss, and…will always miss.
You can never replace anyone,
because everyone is made of such
beautiful specific details.

that morning, right before you left.
I remember that, and…I missed it!

I’m really crazy, right?

Lately I have been more intrigued by those older films, done in the 30s to 60s, black and white or colour. Most of them are simply beautiful fine works. Often their stories were simple, but held great deal of complexities; whereas a lot of movie at our time have complicated plots but hold nothing to inspire the audience. 

Tonight I was deeply moved by To Kill A Mockingbird. It was such a simply but elegant film, a bit sad, but a fine fine film. The screenplay, the acting, the score and the directing—everything was just seamless. The theme is timeless. When you look at our world right now, you still see a lot of discrimination and hatred against minority groups in our society and too many people have taken them lightly. “Loosen up”, they said, but what they don’t realize is by not taking these issues seriously, they help to reinforce this “tyranny of majority”, the hegemony of the majority group. It is sad sometimes to listen to all those talks that project a person’s ignorance but they claim “the freedom of speech” entitles them to do so. Having lived in a free society here seem to make them take this “freedom” for granted when they should treat it delicately. Abusing this freedom only shows what kind of person they are and this freedom definitely not entitle them you to disrespect and trash other people who are different from them. 

Sometimes I do feel hopeless and don’t think it’s gonna do anything to argue with them. However, this film reinforces my belief in this matter and does shed a light of hope for having a better future.

This movie just never ceased to amuse me.
it touched my heart a great deal 3 years ago, 
and after watching 4 or 5 times, I still love it.

Just felt like watching it again tonight.

this year I’ve got 15 films on my list (well, technically 16, one of them is divided into 2 parts)

Penelope Cruz was absolutely gorgeous in the movie. very charming. I’ve never seen her so full of life in other films she did. (probably it’s because she wasn’t speaking her mother tongue?) Pedro Almodovar is definately amazing. As usual, this film gives people passion, engergy and life. Really powerful. Melancholic, but beautiful and warm.

didn’t think this song would still hit me when I listened to it again on my way home.
that was probably one of the reasons I decided to walk home in this rainy day.

probably a good thing actually, because I finally went to the only DVD store nearby that has The Princess and the Warrior. Oh I also rented Breakfast at Tiffany’s(yes, it’s my first time to see it) and Elizabethtown(Ethan’s recommendation). Gonna enjoy them:)
